Emerson Proctor, class of 2020, has been selected for the GB Alpine Ski Team for next winter. Aged only 16, Emerson will become the youngest member of the 43 strong squad, which includes World Cup gold medallist and GB’s top alpine skier Dave Ryding.
Last season was Emerson’s first winter competing in FIS (Federation of International Skiing) races having had a very successful few years racing in the children’s category. The step up to FIS level racing is tough but Emerson put down some strong performances including two podiums at the English Alpine Championships in February. He finished the season as the top ranked GB (of birth year 2006) in Slalom and ranked second in Giant Slalom putting him just outside the top 100 in the world for his age. He has also made the qualification for the Youth Olympic Games in Korea in January 2024 and is on the shortlist for selection.
In recognition of his performance and commitment to his skiing he has also been awarded a scholarship at Apex International Ski Academy as he moves into Year 12 to start the International Baccalaureate.
Congratulations to Emerson for a great season of skiing, and we wish him the best of luck this coming winter and look forward to watching his career develop!
