Mrs Symonds completes 24 hour relay swim for charity

Staff News

Congratulations to Year 4 teacher Mrs Symonds who recently completed a 24-hour relay swim, rotating with 4 other swimmers, who each swam 1-hour slots non-stop throughout the night!

Although the 1-3 am shifts were magical, with the swimmers' lights bobbing around the lake under a bright shining moon, as the temperatures dropped and swimming in just her costume and hat and with zero sleep, it became increasingly tough to keep re-entering the water.

Swimmers dropped out of Mrs Symonds team and so she took on their extra hourly slots completing the most swims on her team! Even though she was sleep-deprived and cold she had her mind set and was never going to give up! A truly epic achievement and for a great cause raising money for a wonderful charity called ‘Level Water’ which teaches disabled children how to swim.
