Congratulations to Moulsford staff members Mr Symonds and Mr Edwards, who completed the mammoth Devizes to Westminster kayak race during the Easter holidays. They set off at 1 pm on Easter Saturday and finished at midday on Easter Sunday, kayaking 125 miles non-stop through the night!
The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race is the world’s longest non-stop canoe race. It starts in Devizes, Wiltshire, finishing at Westminster Bridge in central London, opposite the Houses of Parliament.
As if the distance wasn’t enough, there are also 77 locks to deal with, with paddlers having to get out of the boat and run around the lock with all their equipment, before getting back in and continuing on. They had a few issues along the way, including a broken rudder, but made it to London to collect their medals – well done!
