On Tuesday 5th July 2022, Moulsford officially opened its new state-of-the-art Pre-Prep building. The event was  attended by almost 300 people who saw children’s TV presenter Andy Day cut the ribbon and officially open the new building. Once the formalities were over Andy moved into the new library where he read stories and posed for photographs with the excited children.

The opening was not only a celebration, it also gave parents and children the opportunity to explore the new facilities. The Pre-Prep teachers ran arts and crafts activities in each of the new classrooms, there was an interactive quiz to help children discover more about the new building and fun activities in the adventure playground. A fabulous feast formed the centerpiece of the new hall and children and parents were entertained by a roving magician.

The new Pre-Prep will officially open its doors to pupils in September and will be home to a Pre-School, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The Pre-School is a new venture for the school and will be for boys and girls who have turned 3 years old. There are no plans for any other year groups in the school to be co-educational, and from Reception onwards (as now) Moulsford will focus on delivering an outstanding education for boys.

Mr Beardmore-Gray, Headmaster at Moulsford commented, “Due to Covid, construction of the new Pre-Prep had to be delayed, but over the last year we have watched the project gradually take shape. To finally be able to open the doors feels fantastic and we are very proud of the first-class facilities on offer. The extra space created for the Pre-Prep boys as well as the older boys on the Prep School site will provide even more opportunities for the children to thrive.”

Mrs McMann, Head of the Pre-Prep said, “We are all extremely excited to move into our amazing new building and it was a privilege to show it off to the boys and parents today, and having Andy Day cut the ribbon was the icing on the cake. It is fair to say that the playground, classrooms and fabulous surroundings were a big hit and September can’t come soon enough for the children!”

One parent commented, “My children and I were blown away by the new Pre-Prep. The design of the building is really clever and has an inclusive, family feel. They are super lucky and our son can’t wait to have his first playtime already!”

The building incorporates eco-friendly systems such as solar panels and air source heat pumps to provide underfloor heating, and there is natural ventilation through roof turrets. Green roofs have covered flat roof areas, and extensive planting and landscaping with wildflower meadows will enhance the external areas.

Mr Beardmore-Gray concluded, “Today really was a celebration of the efforts of a fantastic team and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making the new Pre-Prep a reality.”
