The South Africa Tour Black Tie Dinner, in aid of Inspire Children & Youth, was held on Friday 13th March at Moulsford. The SA Tour Committee transformed the Sports Hall into a vibrant, safari-themed setting, and the evening, which was a fitting finale to months of fundraising, was a resounding success.

Bringing together parents, tourists, staff and guests, alongside a strong Old Mole presence, the evening was defined by a sense of celebration and the very best of Moulsford’s community spirit.

On arrival, guests enjoyed a drinks reception and an opportunity to view the South Africa Tour Exhibition, highlighting the boys’ extraordinary fundraising efforts over the past eight months. From endurance challenges to imaginative community initiatives, their energy and determination was apparent throughout the photo exhibition.

Once seated, Mr Beardmore-Gray welcomed all and invited the tourists into the hall. Following performances from the boys and a short video on the work Inspire does in South Africa, Rugby Captain Arthur Sturges and Football Captain Sam James then stood up to reveal the tourists’ latest fundraising total of £30,072, prompting a huge cheer from around the room.

Video messages from sporting stars including Josh Lewsey, Jonny Wilkinson and Finn Russell offered encouragement and advice to the boys, as they prepare for their tour. The evening then moved into a Q&A session, hosted by Mr Weeks, bringing together Tourists ‘Old’ and ‘New’ for a lively and entertaining discussion that gave the boys a valuable glimpse into what lies ahead!

Following a delicious three-course meal, guests participated in fundraising favourites such as Heads & Tails and a well-supported live auction, with a range of prizes generously donated by the school community. The evening concluded with live music from Milen’s band, ensuring that the celebrations continued late into the night.

The event, which was kindly sponsored by Frizzell Wealth Management, not only marked the culmination of an extraordinary fundraising journey, but also reflected the generosity and spirit of the Moulsford community. It was a memorable evening for all involved and a proud moment for the boys as they prepare for their April adventure. Thank you so much to the South Africa Fundraising Committee and Moulsford staff.

In total the Moulsford community raised the extraordinary sum of over £70,000 for the charity which is an amazing achievement. Roughly £30,000 of this came from the boys’ fundraising endeavours and we are so proud of all they achieved. The balance of £40,000 was raised from events such as the RAC Lunch, this Tour Dinner, the Christmas Fair and the sale of merchandise. An enormous thank you for the generosity and engagement shown by the Moulsford community, and particular thanks to the SA Tour Fundraising Committee, wonderfully led by Triona Roy, who have done a fabulous job. This large sum will make a real difference to the women and children supported by Inspire.
